Quarantined
This marks the 22nd day of my quarantine sentence. The hope of the first week in February for my discharge is marked on my calendar. What have I actually doing in apartment for 3+ weeks? Sad to say but it is becoming a lifestyle more than a brief sabbatical. Here is a glimpse of my life the past couple weeks! Well, I usually make the trip the doctor’s office about once a week via my great supervisor. It is a typical ‘Lost in Translation’ scenario where the doctor and my supervisor talk for about 10 minutes and I get a 2.5 minute translation. Well, I have put a stop to this by firing off as much English as possible to the good ol’ doc. I knew he spoke English and finally after several visits from both Michelle and I he doesn’t quiver quite as much when eking out those English words. Poor doc but have to say his English is definitely improving over these 3 weeks!
Besides from visiting the Red Cross Hospital, which is my only communication with the outside world, I am forced to be confined in my apartment for hours and days on end. I usually like to start my day as last as possible since I try to cut the daily activity to only 11 or 12 hours. Besides making my way through the 1st and 2nd season of LOST (and boy did I love the Quarantined episodes!) and all movies at my local rental shop, read five books, emailed, created my Blog, handwrote cards to loved ones, cleaned my apartment (many times thus far) and began painting. There are many times that I stare out the window in hopes of a white knight will come to my rescue or just simply to get a glimpse of the activity in my town of 10,000 people. I do find myself struggling to find tasks to occupy my time some days but overall, I guess the days are passing fairly quickly considering the circumstance. Since I am captive in my lovely apartment, I thought the least I could do was share my living quarters with you. It is a cozy place and grown to love it even more these past could couple of weeks. Wish me luck in what I hope to be my last week in ‘Quarantine’ (I definitely need it!). This certainly will be a unforgettable story which will be added to my list of ‘have I ever’ situations. “Yes, I Have Been Quarantined for a Month”
